Abstract. The paper considers a “drag-free” satellite measurement system for compensation of active accelerations of non-gravitational nature. It is proposed to use a single-frequency laser interferometer to provide a residual acceleration level not worse than 10–12 m/s2. An analysis of basic schemes of single-frequency interferometers is given. A layout of a “drag-free” satellite measurement system is developed. The main sources of noise are described and estimates of the noise budget for the developed layout are given. The results of experimental studies confirming the sensitivity of the layout to relative displacement up to pm/Hz1/2are presented.
