Abstract. The article presents the results of measurements of the hardness of the standard system for reproducing the hardness on the Knoop scales. The contributions of deviations of the applied forces from the nominal ones, the contribution of the error of the optical system to the boundaries of the non-excluded systematic error of the system are estimated. The random error and the range of hardness numbers are determined when reproducing the Knoop scales.
