Abstract. In modern technologies, thermal barrier, strengthening, and anticorrosive coatings are used. The mechanical properties of the coatings must be controlled for the correct operation of the products being developed. The simplest way to control the mechanical properties of coatings is to measure hardness. The article provides a proposal on the choice of a method for controlling the hardness of thin coatings.
