Abstract. The article is devoted to studies of methods for assessing the informative of the anomalous magnetic field of the Earth (AMFE), which can be used in the practice of correlation-extreme navigation systems (CENS) for AMFE. A common characteristic of AMFE information content is its gradient. However, to assess the suitability of AMFE for CENS, methods related to the presentation of geophysical field by a random process are more effective. The article provides the results of evaluation of gradients and statistical characteristics of AMFE for three sections, as well as estimates of CENS accuracy by AMFE for these sections for quantum and fluxgate magnetometers.

Keywords: anomalous Earth magnetic field, gradient, statistical characteristics.
