Abstract. The Main Metrological Center of the State Service for Time, Frequency and Earth Orientation Parameters Evaluation (MMC SSTF) is responsible for the evaluation and dissemination of reference Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP) values in Russia, according to Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation № 225. The final stage in the EOP evaluation is carried out by joint processing (combination) of the results of the EOP values obtained using modern methods of space geodic technics and astrometry: Global Navigation Satellite System, Very Long Baseline Interferometry and Satellite Laser Ranging.
Combination can be carried out at different levels and use different statistical and mathematical methods. This article discusses method of rapid combination based on weighted median values. The method of applying weights allows one to flexibly control the position of the resulting weighted median value. A prototype of a program implementing this method has been developed using the programming languages Perl (as a command language) and Fortran (for computing modules).
The calculations and comparison of the deviations of the combined EOP values from the combined operational values of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service obtained using the new and old methods have been carried out. As a result of the comparison, it is shown that the application of the new method makes it possible to increase the accuracy of the combined EOP values. The positive results of testing the new method suggest that it is advisable to implement it for the purpose of regular rapid combined processing of EOP data in the MMC SSTF.
