Abstract. А source of atomic hydrogen is one of the critical elements of hydrogen maser for transported quantum hydrogen clocks. Article analyzes factors affecting reliability and lifetime of this unit. A theoretical study of HF-discharge in molecular hydrogen has been carried out. Experimental results of a quartz discharge bulb degradation are presented. Optimal variants of circuit engineering and design solutions for compact and reliable high-frequency generator are considered. Theoretical analysis and operational experience helped to create a source of atomic hydrogen with a great lifetime.

Keywords: hydrogen maser, transported quantum hydrogen clock, atomic hydrogen source, high-frequency plasma discharge.
