Abstract. The article discusses the features of metrological certification of devices for measuring mechanical stresses arising from the loading of structural materials. The results of tests for metrology pattern/type approval of the device for measuring mechanical stresses IN-5101A based on the use of the acoustoelasticity measurement method are presented. The procedure of these tests ensures tracebility of measuring mechanical stresses to state primary standards of the units of force and length. The factors that determine the errors in the measurement of mechanical stresses using the acoustoelasticity method are analyzed.

Keywords: mechanical stresses, acoustoelasticity, acoustic anisotropy, acoustically low-anisotropic materials, traceability, measurement technique, random and systematic components of measurement error.
