Being considered are theoretical and practical principles of PAA dynamic pattern measurement. Being proposed are some options of measured data processing. The paper describes the applicability of the dynamic pattern and peculiarities of its processing to define the PAA amplitude-phase distribution and directional characteristics. Being given are the methods of the error estimation of the antenna pattern definition and the amplitude-phase distribution along the dynamic pattern as well as the examples of the experimental check of the dynamic patterns application to estimate the characteristics of actual active antenna arrays.

Key words: phased antenna array, dynamic antenna pattern, reconstruction of the amplitude-phase distribution.
