The article provides an overview of the definitions of the terms “reference material” and “certified reference material”, talks about the current problem and the need to revise documents to harmonize definitions in all legislative and normative documents of Russia that approve these terms.
The article indicates the mandatory type approval of reference materials used in the sphere of state regulation of ensuring the uniformity of measurements.
Special emphasis is on the State Service of Reference Materials (SSRM), established to control of CRM using in Russia.
