Methods for determining geoid height and surface wind speed by global navigation satellite signals reflected from the ocean surface

Annotation. Methods for determining the height of the geoid using a passive bistatic radar system based on direct and reflected GNSS signals are presented. Such a system is promising for determining height of the geoid, speed of the surface wind, agitation of the water surface, etc. The calculation of the total uncertainty in measuring the height of the geoid using the interference method of GNSS-altimetry is presented. Simulation showed that for some navigation systems, it is possible to obtain an uncertainty in determining the height of the geoid of no more than 30 cm, and when using the phase method – at the level of a centimeter.
