Abstract. The paper considers the possibility of using the high metrological capabilities of quantum optical systems (QOS) and atomic clocks for remote measurement of gravitational potential differences and heights of points on the Earth’s surface. An original experiment is proposed between Moscow and Irkutsk, near which a new generation of QOS are available. The use of domestic relocatable hydrogen atomic clocks is proposed as mobile atomic clocks. The expected error of the experiment is about a meter.

Keywords: gravitational potentials, atomic clock, geoid, physical surface of the Earth, frequency comparison, quantum optical system, time scale.
