Having organized the determination of deflection of vertical (DOV) with a resolution of several kilometers, the local structure of the EGF can be restored with the highest resolution. This can be done using digital zenith camera system (DZCS), which have high efficiency and accuracy of measurements in comparison with other methods of determining of DOV. The article presents the developed measurement technique with an DZCS and the results of its tests at various geographical points in the field. The proposed method, unlike the existing traditional method, allows one to evaluate and take into account the calibration coefficients of the DZCS in each series of observations. In addition, the new technique does not impose requirements on the accuracy of rotation of the telescope around the axis in the horizontal plane and the rigidity of the base of the DZCS. The test results of the developed technique showed an increase in the efficiency and accuracy of measurements: the measurement time is reduced from 1,5 hour to 30 minutes, the average standard deviation is reduced to 0,2″.

Key words: deflection of vertical, digital zenith camera, observation method, calibration coefficients.
