On the example of the results of an experiment on measuring the sound reflection coefficient from a material sample, the incorrectness of irradiation of the sample with a spherical sound wave is demonstrated. The advantages and disadvantages of an acoustic beam generation with a flat front by the Trott array, as an alternative to investigation the acoustic properties of materials in a far field, are discussed. Replacing the Trott array with a virtual array synthesizing an acoustic beam using the scanning projector (receiver) allows you to avoid the bulky and complicated constructions in technical implementation and create an acoustically transparent array with any step from any number of elements. The options for setting up a measurement experiment using virtual radiating and receiving arrays are considered. The use of a low-element sparse scanning cell of projectors (receivers) allows reducing significantly the duration of the measurements. The results of mathematical modeling are presented to confirm the prospects of the proposed approach.

Key words: measuring device, computer units, queuing systems, analytical modeling.
